Nashville Place

Nashville, formerly known as Fort Nash borough was founded by James Robertson and a group of Wataugans in 1780. Located on a sulphur spring and a salt lick popularly known as French Lick, it grew quickly as a port and a major railroad hub. In 1843, Nashville was officially named the capital of Tennessee. It has an area of about 526 square miles and a population of about 569,891.

The U.S.’s second most heavily populated city, Nashville, is the capital of the state of Tennessee and is a foremost hub for music, transportation, health care, and publishing industries. The city can be found in the state’s north-central portion, on Cumberland River in Davidson County.

More popularly known as “Music City USA”, Nashville is the Mecca of country music -with Country Music Hall of Fame, the Grand Ole Opry, Dolly Parton, and the 1975 Oscar winning film Nashville by Robert Altman. The city’s “two-billion-a-year” industry is where nameless musicians can turn into overnight sensations, and where the fortunes of music publishing are made.

Does it still come as a surprise why this part of Tennessee gained the moniker “Music City?” If you look closely into history, you would discover that the metropolis has been the cradle of country genre that up to this juncture, spells what is of authentic American heritage. Its airport code BNA is taken from the city’s early facilities of aviation called the “Berry Field, NAshville” that held the name of the present airport until 1988 when its name was changed to Nashville International Airport to portray plans for the international flights; it also holds four runways.

The Nashville Convention Center is situated in the center of the “Music City’s” downtown area. With just a few minutes drive from the airport, and its accessibility to nearby attractions including the “Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum”, “Grand Ole Opry”, “General Jackson Showboat Evening Cruise”, “Nashville Night Tours”, “Home of the Stars Tour”, as well as a shared connecting lobby to the Renaissance Nashville Hotel, is what makes the Center a facility that lures “record-breaking” attendance to whatever occasion.
