Nashville, formerly known as Fort Nash borough was founded by James Robertson and a group of Wataugans in 1780. Located on a sulphur spring and a salt lick popularly known as French Lick, it grew quickly as a port and a major railroad hub. In 1843, Nashville was officially named the capital of Tennessee. It has an area of about 526 square miles and a population of about 569,891.

The U.S.’s second most heavily populated city, Nashville, is the capital of the state of Tennessee and is a foremost hub for music, transportation, health care, and publishing industries. The city can be found in the state’s north-central portion, on Cumberland River in Davidson County.

Nashville International Airport (BNA) is situated in the southeastern part of Nashville, Tennessee. Its airport code BNA is taken from the city’s early facilities of aviation called the “Berry Field, NAshville” that held the name of the present airport until 1988 when its name was changed to Nashville International Airport to portray plans for the international flights; it also holds four runways.
